10/1/2006 - NCRS 2006 Membership Fees Increase The NCRS Board of directors has approved an NCRS membership dues increase effective January 1, 2006. This is the first increase in 10 years. The increase is necessary due to the continual rising cost of doing business. Over this 10 year period our cost has continually risen for such things as printing paper and postage for the Restorer and Driveline, cost of living increases for our employees and required equipment such as computers, software, etc., all have been necessary to better serve the membership. Effective January 1, 2006 our membership dues will be $35.00 for United States Postal Regions (except Florida); $36.00 for Florida Postal Regions; $42.00 for Canada Postal Regions; $60.00 for all other Postal Regions.
Our goal is and always will be to continue to make NCRS membership an outstanding “bang for the buck”. Where else can you receive 10 publications per year, the wealth of technical knowledge and information and best of all the great folks that make up NCRS.
Isn’t that too much? This cost increase represents an annual income of $80,000 per year ($5.00 times the 16,000 members). This increase will cycle through three year period before it is reflected as a total. Next year there are only 8600 renewal memberships due and it will be three years before the cycle is complete to a point that it reflects a $80,000.00 per year increase.
Why not stop charity giving rather than increase dues? Charity giving is something we should do as good citizens. Help those who need our help. Additionally, these dollars given from the national organization comes from interest off of our reserve funds. These reserve funds are set aside in accordance with our By-Laws, the interest off these funds could put us in a situation where we would have to pay taxes if they were not donated to a charity, which again could increase our cost of doing business.
Why is the cost increase to Canadian members $7.00? After reviewing the postage cost of mailing our 10 publications per year we determined that the increase to Canadian membership was necessary to cover the additional cost of postage to this area.
Why is the cost of the Florida members $6.00? The state of Florida applies a tax to membership dues.
